ELLIE-8 WEEKS
We are LOVING her more than I thought possible! She had a rough first night, which we expected, but had a great night last night and even better day today. Everyone who comes over falls in love. She is being loved on all day. She is a perfect fit for our family! Thank you again for taking such good care of her til we could take her home. We can all tell how much she was loved in her home! I will stay in touch and send more pictures.

YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE ONE! FIRST SYDNEY AND NOW BARNEY......
Kimmie and family,
I can’t tell you the joy and love I have gotten from my Sydney. She is so smart! Sydney was so easy to housetrain that I even trained her to ring a bell on the door when she has to go outside. She started playing Frisbee about 3 months ago and hasn’t stopped. She plays Frisbee everyday between 1-3 times a day and is quite good. I am hoping to put her in Frisbee and agility competitions as she gets older. Sydney is also a swimmer. I trained her to swim in my pool at 4 months of age. We started on the first step and worked our way into the pool. She knows that she can only go in on the first step and come out of the pool on the first step. She jumps in the pool only when she is told. We take Sydney out fishing in the boat with us. She sits patiently waiting for us to say “I’ve got one” then she jumps on her feet and waits for the catch! Of course, we have to let her put the fish in her mouth before we throw it back in the water! She also loves going to the islands on the river and jumping in for a quick swim. Usually, when docking on an island she is out of the boat before we are and the last one back on the boat! Along with these activities, Sydney goes for her daily walks around our subdivision. I had a late start on socializing her around other dogs and people because of my ankle surgery but she is getting better with that. I am hoping to start taking her to doggie daycare to help her with her socialization.
I have had so much fun with Sydney that I decided to get her a new brother to play with. I was worried at first about having another puppy so soon but I have found that it has made things easier for me. Sydney is no longer chasing my cats but instead being a big sister to the puppy. My new bundle of joy is named “Barney”. He is a doll! I melt when he looks at me with those precious eyes. He is very mellow compared to Sydney but loves to play just as hard as she does when he is outside. He loves to follow me everywhere. He also wants to do everything that he sees his big sister Sydney doing. He fell in the pool twice this week while watching Sydney swim. He wasn’t scared at all but just swam to the steps to get out. I am going to wait a few more months before we start training him to swim and to go fishing. Barney has been making visits to my mother’s assisted living facility. Everyone there just loves him and he loves the attention he is getting. I am hoping to get Barney certified as a pet therapy dog when he is a year old.
Thank you so much for bringing these two wonderful pups into my life. I can’t imagine a day without them!

Misty
Kim and Family,
Well, just a few days ago, Misty turned one year old. She's no longer a little puppy.
A few months ago Misty took her first road trip up to Mobile Alabama to see my husband's folks. It was her first long (10 hour) drive over a long distance and she did very well. David made sure every time they stopped at a rest stop that he ran with her and gave her exercise, and because of that, she was quiet during the trip up. She was very unsure the first day or so, but after she realized that David wasn't leaving (she has picked him as her Alpha Male), she got a lot happier about it. By the time she left, everyone was singing her praises at how well behaved she had been, and how good it was to see her.
David keeps her entertained most days with several play times. Her day usually consists of getting up early in the morning around 6:00 when Mike gets up and plays with the cat. The two of them play pretty rough, and it's amazing to see a cat actually want to have the dog come and nip at him, but he loves it. After several hours of play both inside and out, she sacks out midday for a fairly long nap, but never so much as to not keep track of who is home (especially David). About dinner time, she gets up and plays with David over several hours, and then its off to bed at around 1:00 am when he goes to bed.
Despite all that activity, she still seems to manage to find time to sometimes find an old book that seems like a fun chew toy, or feels that the backyard needs some trees, and so digs a few holes that we could place new trees into. Despite those setbacks, she's actually a good dog. She doesn't bark except for if there is someone at the door (which is a major plus for our family, and one of our favorite attributes she has), and she's never lacking in giving out love to her family. She protects the house and is very wary of strangers, but doesn't threaten them or jump up on them. She loves to lay on your feet when you settle in one spot like a computer, and like all aussies we know, she loves to give out kisses. Her favorite games are playing with the rag bone (tug of war and fetching) and ball, and chasing squirls when she sees them in the backyard or on the fence.
In the next few months she's probably going to get to go on a longer, 3 day trip to Illinois where we have a small 150 acre farm. We're really looking forward to seeing how much she will enjoy open spaces that will not be fenced in and can wander anywhere she wants and chase anything she wants. Our last Aussie loved the farm a great deal, and we have no doubt she will love it too.
She continues to bring a great deal of love and activity around the house and keeps us all young, and we're hoping for many, many more years with her like this one.

We have three children under the age of 8 who all really wanted to have a puppy. After lots of thoughts and considerations we decided to adopt one of the Lynn's Australian Shepards. Knowing from having an Aussie Mix in the past we knew the gentle nature, intelligence, and love an Aussie can bring to a family. Hunter Lynn picked out a puppy named Holly for us and she turned out to be a gem. She is now 7 months old and is a joy to have. I'd be lying if I said she never chewed up anything, escapes for her own little joy runs around the neighborhood, or had us up in the middle of the night as a puppy to go outside on a cold winters night, but just like with kids they have to grow up. Holly loves to run, lick the kids, and just be at your feet as part of the family. She learned to sit, shake, and lay down very early on and is very loyal to the family. We are very happy to have such a loving dog who is great with children and very smart!
